SESSION INFO

Family Sessions

ON-LOCATION

There are so many wonderful locations nearby and together we will choose the best that suits your family. Ideally, we should meet for about 1-2 hours before the golden hour (sunset) that creates the most beautiful lighting for photography, but earlier session time is available too. I will take a range of images from individuals and different combinations of the family members within relaxed set up that can be through doing activities, playing, walking or just being together.

AT HOME

Some clients prefer their session in their own home/garden to document their everyday life, mixed with some classic portraits. My aim is to capture your family as they really are with as many inward and emotional moments possible.

FAQ

What is Lifestyle Photography?

“Lifestyle photography is a kind of photography mainly that aims to capture portrait/people in situations, real-life events or milestones in an artistic manner. It is the art of the everyday. The primary goal is to tell stories about people’s lives or to inspire people at different times.” – I couldn’t have said it better! Thanks, Wikipedia!
During my lifestyle sessions, I usually do a little bit of documentary photography as well, focusing on special, brief moments and momentary emotions. (See more about documentary photography in the next question)

Do you do Documentary Photography?

Yes, I do as part of my Lifestyle Sessions. My aim is to create a whole story for your family, including some classic (but never stiff) posing together, as well as documenting true, authentic living. I will take some time to focus on special, brief moments and momentary emotions between your family members, for you to remember when your children are not small anymore. Special childhood moments pass way too quickly.

What will my family session be like?

Fun fun fun!! We will laugh, joke and do things that make little ones giggle, like tickling and do silly faces. Think about activities you like to do together so the children will be interacted and happy too. You can prepare with jokes (silly one’s tend to be the best!) or short fun stories to tell each other while I capture your authentic interactions.

How long will my family session take?

Lifestyle sessions are usually an hour long but can be slightly shorter or longer.

Are dogs welcomed to your sessions?

Big-big YES! Please bring your furry friends to your on-location sessions as they are part of your family! I have two dogs myself and I know how important they are to a family. Please let me know in advance if you wish to bring your dog along, so I can make sure we choose a suitable location for the shoot. Don’t forget to hide some dog treats in your pocket so we can use that when we need your four-legged friend’s attention 😉

What should we wear?

In a nutshell, wardrobe should be comfortable and reflect who you are. After booking you will receive my really handy session guide with a whole page about the big ‘What should I wear’ question answered.

Should I wear makeup and have my hair done?

Your beautiful photos will be hanging on your walls and last for generations so if you feel more comfortable with a light makeup and nice hair, then of course, go ahead!

What is my baby/child is ill on the day of the shoot? Can we reschedule?

Yes absolutely, a poorly baby/child isn’t very conducive to happy photos! I am happy to reschedule your session to another date at no extra cost, please try and give me as much notice as possible. Please note if the session has to be rescheduled a second time due to illness, there is a 50% re-booking fee will be applied.

Newborn Sessions

What is Lifestyle Newborn Photography?

At-home sessions focused on the new member of the family. My lifestyle sessions are all about the intimate connection and love that the family members share between each other.

Where will my Lifestyle Newborn Session be held?

The Lifestyle Newborn Sessions always take place in the client’s home. More light and space is better, but I’m happy to work with whatever I’ve got. A little tidy up is essential to make the most of the session.

How long will my Lifestyle Newborn session be?

My Lifestyle Newborn Sessions are usually 1-2 hours long. There’s no rush, you will have as much time as needed for feeding, changing or just cuddling your baby.

What will my Lifestyle Newborn session be like?

My Lifestyle Newborn Sessions are relaxed yet cheerful. I’ll capture special moments of each family member with the baby as well as the family all together. If siblings are involved, we usually start shooting with them so that they are free to play during the rest of the time.  There will also be time for photos of the baby alone; these are usually done when the baby is sleepiest. I take photos of the baby swaddled and/or undressed and I pose them in a way you’d find them naturally. Safety is a priority and my newborn sessions are completely baby led so you can take your time for feeding, changing, cuddles, etc. My newborn e-brochure with the full step by step guide will be emailed to you once the booking has been made.

Are siblings and pets welcomed?

I love it when siblings and family pets can join in too. It can be helpful to have a friend or family member at the house who can watch siblings during the rest of the session so that Mum and Dad can be relaxed with the baby.

What should we wear?

The baby
Loose clothing for the little one to avoid skin marks by the elastics (usually by the ankle, waist and wrists). I usually have some swaddle blankets available as props or we can use your own.

Siblings
Simple plain, light/pale coloured clothing is the best as we want the focus on the baby. Please avoid large, contrasty patterns.

Parents
I recommend a plain, light coloured dress or shirt for the mum and a similar colour shirt for the dad. No reds or harsh contrast please (for example mum’s in white and dad in black).

After booking you will receive my really handy session guide with a whole page about the big ‘What should I wear’ question included.

How about makeup and hair?

If you take part of the session then it’s absolutely up to you if you want to wear makeup and have your hair done. Your photos will be hanging on your walls and last for generations so if you feel more comfortable with a natural makeup on and with some waves in your hair, then please go ahead!

Maternity Sessions

What is a maternity session like?

My maternity sessions are relaxed and laid back, focusing on the expecting mother. Close family members are welcome to take part and be on some of the pictures.

What is the best time for a maternity session?

It is recommended to shoot the beautiful bumps is when you feel energetic and beautiful, instead of heavy and tired. Around the 30th of maternity weeks tend to work the best as the belly is round enough yet not too heavy.

Please make sure you book in time prior to your 30th weeks of pregnancy.

Where will my maternity session be held?

Petite Maternity sessions take place at your desired location.

Full maternity sessions can take place either on-location, in a studio or in your home.

How long will my maternity session take?

Petite maternity sessions are around 30 minutes long and full maternity sessions can take up to 1,5 hours.
However, both can be slightly shorter or longer depending on setups and locations.

What should I wear?

I recommend a plain colour long maternity dress that reflects the beautiful bump. I have some lovely dresses available, please get in touch for more details.

Should I wear makeup and have my hair done?

Your beautiful photos will be hanging on your walls and last for generations so if you feel more comfortable with makeup and nice hair, then of course, go ahead!
